EDUCATIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES

Contact Us to Craft A Professional Development Service That Fits Your Needs!

We offer professional development sessions focused on culturally responsive teaching strategies and confronting implicit bias. We also offer sessions in constructivist teaching strategies in secondary mathematics, and computer science. These sessions can be district-wide or tailored to suit the needs of individual campuses. We can accommodate requests for teacher in-service, after school, during the summer, or staff development days.

INQUIRY-BASED STEM

Let’s explore ways to get our students motivated to tackle concepts they will need to be successful in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics courses!  Inquiry-based instruction is a proven method of eliciting quality questions and investigations in science classrooms.  We will use these methods to explore other STEM subjects and delve into the links between these content areas. Let’s break down the walls between our core STEM subjects and show the interconnectedness between math and science as we explore fun activities that will have students engaged and motivated to learn.  In this session, we will have a hands-on inquiry experience that will inform how to facilitate successful constructivist lessons.

COMPUTATIONAL THINKING CLASSROOMS

I want my students to be excited about Computational Thinking and self-starters when tackling programming projects. And I am willing to bet that you feel the same way! Building Thinking Classrooms has been a transformative approach to teaching mathematics and science for years. So why aren’t we doing it in CS?? In this session, I will introduce proven strategies of collaboration and problem-solving that will unlock your student’s potential and build engaging classrooms where kids think computationally.

OFF THE WALL TEACHING

In this session, we will use a combination of my favorite best practices to introduce a classroom instructional design strategy that we have deemed “Teaching Off The Wall.”  Through the use of vertical non-permanent surfaces, class discourse, movement, collaboration, etc. Participants will have a chance to see how they can keep students engaged and learning for an entire class period across multiple content areas.  The kids will be doing the talking, thus the kids will be doing the learning!

COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHING

Looking to enhance your computer science teaching skills? Join me for interactive and collaborative professional development sessions designed to empower educators in delivering CS education. Through active, hands-on approaches, I offer valuable training and resources that equip teachers with effective strategies for engaging students in the exciting world of computer science.

CULTURALLY
RESPONSIVE STEM

In today's diverse classrooms, educators must embrace the cultural identities of the students they teach. During these trainings, we accomplish two main goals: (1) have a discussion that will open a useful dialogue which seeks to inform culturally relevant teaching practices in STEM classrooms, and (2) present lessons and activities that approach STEM from a culturally and linguistically responsive perspective. We also can tailor culturally-responsive teaching sessions that focus on intersectionality and other topics independent of STEM.

EQUITY & INCLUSION

Support more equitable and inclusive classroom environments so that all students, especially those from marginalized communities, build a sense of belonging and identity.  We will discuss our personal identities and how having a sense of self can allow us to teach with more empathy and positively impact the learning outcomes of our diverse student populations.
